Biodiversity island

--:--
--:--

The vegetation in the museum park consists mainly of plant species that are not native to this area. The park is intensively maintained to keep it looking neat and tidy. Natural processes are not allowed to take place here, which limits biodiversity. The small island in the middle of the museum park, on the other hand, is a small piece of wilderness where nature can take its course. The ivy keeps the area green all year round and the dense vegetation provides a good hiding place. It is popular with birds such as blackbirds, wrens, dunnocks and even blackcaps, who use it to sleep and hide when the tawny owl is hunting in the museum park.
